Finding Hope
Why do I exist? Does my life really have any significance in this world?
You are a representative of the human race and you wrestle, as we all do, with the great questions of life. What in the world is life all about? Why am I here? What are we doing spinning around on this planet at almost 1,100 miles per hour, tilted at a 23 degree axis? Why aren’t we flying off into the universe? What force is keeping the members of this planet earthbound? Is gravity really all there is to believe in? Certainly, all of us have asked ourselves similar questions.
The fact is, many do not know why they are here and what they are here for. They are living a meaningless life, simply existing. What a sad way to live! There is more to live for than merely satisfying the physical and even intellectual needs of the body and mind.
The God who created you fully expects you to live your life for a higher purpose than just pleasing yourself. God wants you to glorify Him in all that you do. The Bible states the following in Romans 15:6, "That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."
You are so important to God that He invites you to have a personal relationships with Him. The Bible tells us that God has a wonderful purpose for each and every person He has created. That purpose begins with experiencing God’s love and at that moment being made into the image of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. Here is how the Bible says it in Romans 8:28-29, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to beconformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."
You and I were created to bear the image of Jesus Christ and to make the truth of God known to all men.
When Jesus was on the earth, He called His disciples to become a part of an incredible mission. That mission was finding people whose lives had no meaning, people who were cut off from God through sin and restoring them to a loving relationship with their Creator. You have a reason to exist, a wonderful cosmic purpose for life and you can achieve direction in life by connecting with Jesus Christ. He will give you a reason to exist a significant purpose for living.
What does the Bible say about our standing before God? How can we know that we have eternal life? The Bible states the following:
1.We do not measure up to God’s standard.
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one..”
(Romans 3:10-12)
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
(Romans 3:23)
2.Our sins separate us from God.
“For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23)
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27)
3.In our hopelessness, Christ died for us.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. .”
(Romans 5:8)
4.If we call upon Him, He will save us from our sin.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. ”
(Romans 10:9)
“For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
(Romans 10:13)
5. Once you are saved, you need to commt to the act of Baptism as soon as possible, find and join a good Bible teaching church and start your new glorious Journey as a child of the Living God. Then go and tell the whole world about Jesus the One who brought you out of your hopelessness into a relationship with the Son of God and gave you hope for the future.
